From Newton 2nd Law

FN − Fg = Fnet

FN − Mg = m.ay

ay = 0

FN − Mg = 0

FN = Mg

FN = 3 × 10 = 30 N

b) Determine the acceleration of the block. (Hint: a =(m÷(M+m)×g) (3 points).

a =(m÷(M + m)) ×g

=(2÷(3+ 2))× 10

= 4 m/s^2

c) Determine the tension in the cord. (Hint: T = Ma) (2 points).

T = Ma

T = 3 × 4

T = 12 N
